AC Maintenance And Inspection (Part 1 of 2)
To help you be a wiser consumer, today we will define AC Maintenance and Inspection (Part 1 of 2). The AC industry is filled with terms you and others may not understand.
Moreover, these terms can get confusing, especially when you are presented with a contract requiring you to sign. Therefore, we will define these terms to help you understand the difference.
What Is An AC Inspection?
An AC inspection is simply a visual inspection of your equipment that does not include any actual work being performed. Unfortunately, there are a handful of AC companies who deceptively package an AC Inspection as a low cost “special offer” just to get in your door.
These “specials” are sometimes advertised as low as $19.99. Moreover, their strategy is to make additional money off this deal. Typically, these representatives are professional salespeople; not trained AC technicians. Since they work on a commission, their sole intent is to sell.
Sadly, they can be very convincing and will report problems to you that may or may not be genuine. In addition, they may persuade you to purchase parts and equipment, which also requires installation. Keep in mind, installing equipment translates into labor charges.
What Is An AC Maintenance?
AC Maintenance involves actually performing specific tasks on your AC unit to keep it clean and operating efficiently. This includes actions such as cleaning your outside condensing unit and flushing the drain line. Typically, the technician will spend from 45 minutes to 2 hours at your home testing, inspecting, and cleaning the components of your AC equipment.
We will clean and inspect your AC unit simultaneously with a Maintenance Plan. To help you better understand the tasks performed in our Maintenance plan, Sunset Air and Home Services has created a 30 Point Checklist.
Furthermore, we will provide you a complete written analysis of your AC System’s current condition. The technician will inform you of any issues that need attention.
