An AC Company Overcomes Adversity
When owning a company, there’s no doubt you will be confronted with obstacles. For example, when the recession hit in 2007, President Jason Schreyer had to face many unprecedented challenges; most importantly was how to preserve his business.
Difficult Decisions To Move Forward
To keep Sunset Air and Home Services open during the recession of 2007-2009, some tough decisions had to be made.

Jason recalls, “One of the worst things I had to do was layoff close to 80 people. I realized it was not just 80 people; it was 80 families.” As stressful as it was, he had to adjust in order to move forward.
After selling the original building, he re-evaluated his business model.
Internally, he created a new set of sales tools for his team members, and updated his processes and procedures to be even more competitive in the market.
The Secret To Success
His strategy was to create the most knowledgeable and professional team of technicians and installers in the region that were trained regularly, including by the manufacturers.

He also ensured the customer service representatives were properly trained so they could answer customer questions, discover their needs, and get resolution quickly.
By 2010, Sunset Air and Home Services was experiencing tremendous growth.
Weathering The Storm
Most recently, SW Florida experienced one of the worst hurricanes in history when Hurricane Ian made landfall on September 28, 2022. Fortunately, the AC Company’s building remained intact; however, many of their customers were left with no air conditioning.

Rising to the occasion, Sunset Air technicians worked overtime for months repairing, replacing, and installing AC systems throughout this region, fulfilling their promise to keep their customers comfortable and safe.
